Welcome to the website of the
Gilbert & Sullivan Society ( We would like to thank al those who came to see this year's Christmas Concert with the Totnes Town Band, which took place at the Palace Theatre, Paignton on the 9th December 2011. Our next concert will be our Supper Concert which will be held at the Berry Head Hotel in Brixham on Friday 2nd March 2012. Further details can be found on our concerts page. The Society would like to thank all those who came along to see our 2011 production of The Yeomen of the Guard last summer, your support is greatly appreciated and we hope you enjoyed watching the show as much as we enjoyed staging it! The Society was founded in 1973, mainly as an appreciation Society.
Since then, however, it has performed all the operettas of Gilbert &
Sullivan and also hold regular concerts at various venues throughout South
Devon but mainly in the sumptuous surroundings of the Ballroom at
During its 36 year history the Society has achieved a number of notable successes. In 1978 it achieved world-wide renown when it sung all 13 of the published G&S operas in succession; a feat it repeated in 1998. The Society also had the distinction of staging Pirates on the 100th anniversary of its first production in the very theatre where it was first performed (alas now gone).
